Mehndi Night Henna in Ilford & East London

Planning a mehndi night in Ilford or East London? Zakia at Bridal Mehndi does henna for the bride and her guests at mehndi nights, sangeets and pre-wedding parties. She has over 20 years’ experience and uses natural henna only.

What is a mehndi night?

A mehndi night (also called a mehendi night) is a pre-wedding celebration, usually held a day or two before the wedding, where the bride has her mehndi applied and family and friends get together for food, music and dancing. Guests often have mehndi done too, from a simple strip on one hand to a fuller design.

Bride + mehndi night package

Book your bridal mehndi and your guests’ mehndi together. Your bridal design is applied one or two days before the wedding, so the colour peaks on the day, and your guests can have their mehndi done at the same event. Message Zakia on WhatsApp with your date, location, and roughly how many guests want mehndi, and she will put together a quote for you.

Guest mehndi prices

  • Party and guest mehndi from £7 per side per hand (normal strip).
  • Or book by the hour: £80 per hour, great for larger groups.
  • Bridal mehndi: £150–£550, depending on the design. See bridal mehndi packages.
  • Waterproof glitter designs, matched to outfits, are also available.

Who can have mehndi?

The bride, of course, plus mums, sisters, bridesmaids, aunties, cousins and guests.

At home or at our studio

Mehndi can be done at our studio in Ilford (IG4), or Zakia can come to your home or venue across East London and Essex. A small travel charge applies for home visits. A £50 non-refundable deposit per day secures your date.

Tips for your mehndi night

  • Book early: weekends in wedding season (May–September) and around Eid fill up first.
  • Have a rough guest count ready so enough time can be planned.
  • Set up a well-lit table and chairs for the mehndi area.
  • Ask guests to arrive with clean, dry hands and no lotion.
  • Keep the paste on as long as possible and avoid water for 12–24 hours. See how to get dark mehndi.

Mehndi night questions

How many guests can have mehndi in an evening?

It depends on the designs. Simple strips are quick, while fuller designs take longer. Tell Zakia your guest numbers and the kind of designs you want, and she will advise how much time to book.

Should the bride have her mehndi at the mehndi night?

Many brides do. Bridal mehndi takes 2–5 hours depending on coverage, so it is often started before guests arrive. Applying it one or two days before the wedding means the stain is at its darkest on the day.

Do you use natural henna?

Yes, natural henna only. Zakia never uses black, red or “emergency” colour henna.
