Floral bridal hands to the wrist – bridal mehndi by Zakia, Ilford

Bridal Mehndi Prices in London: What Affects the Cost

“How much is bridal mehndi?” is the question I’m asked most. The honest answer is: it depends on what you want. Two brides can both ask for “bridal mehndi” and need very different amounts of time and detail. Here’s what affects the price of bridal mehndi – or mehendi, as it’s often spelled – in London, so you can budget with confidence and compare artists fairly.

1. How far up the arms it goes

Coverage is the biggest factor. Designs up to the wrist take far less time than full coverage to the elbow. My bridal packages are built around this: wrist, forearm, elbow, and an exclusive package with the most detailed work.

2. Feet

Adding feet roughly adds another hour or more, depending on how far up the leg the design goes. Feet stain beautifully dark, so many brides feel it’s worth it – here’s how to get dark mehndi on hands and feet.

3. Level of detail

Dense traditional and Pakistani designs with fine fillings take longer than bold Arabic patterns with more open skin. Personal touches, like names, dates or motifs from your outfit, also add time.

4. Home, venue or studio

Studio appointments are the most cost-effective. If you’d like your mehndi at home or at a venue, expect a travel charge based on distance. I cover Ilford, East London, Essex and wider London.

5. Family and guests

Many brides book mehndi for their mum, sisters and guests on the same day. Guest mehndi is usually priced separately: at Bridal Mehndi it starts from £7 per side per hand, or £80 per hour for larger groups.

6. Extras

  • Waterproof glitter or gems matched to your outfit
  • White henna for a reception look
  • A trial session (free at Bridal Mehndi)

How to compare artists fairly

  • Ask exactly what coverage is included at each price.
  • Check whether a trial is included.
  • Make sure they use natural henna, never “black henna”.
  • Read recent Google reviews and look at photos of real stains, not just fresh paste.
  • Ask about travel charges and timing on the day.
